I've been in this situation before and I think you're also forgetting the sheer weight of making that decision, which usually falls to the woman. The guy in my life at the time wouldn't tell me what he wanted, saying it was up to me. That sounds great and pro-woman on paper, but that's actually another advantage men have concerning an 'oops' pregnancy... they don't have to actually make the choice.
