It’s been about a month since I started my new year resolution early, that being to interact with a list of other social network sites before Facebook. Today I’m culling the list, eliminating the sites where I’ve found no worthwhile interaction, although I made most of these decisions over the last couple of weeks. The sites being cut, and why:

Livejournal, because everything I want there is being crosspost to or from Dreamwidth.
Nextdoor, because my neighbors aren’t very interesting.
WT.Social, because it’s not very active.
Parler, not because it’s been deplatformed, not because it’s full of hate, but because the culture there is to fill every post with as many unrelated popular hashtags as possible, making them worthless for searching and filtering to find posts about specific topics I would actually want to discuss.
SpaceHey, because it’s not very active.

That leaves the following on my list: Reddit, Mastodon, Diaspora, Dreamwidth, Fetlife, Twitter, Facebook.
