the iPhone is going down.

Everyone keeps saying "but the iPhone has this and the iPhone has that"... The iPhone has been out for how long? Look at the amazing things that a real open platform development community can come up with less than a month after Android's launch. Best case, iPhone crashes and burns. Worst case, Apple is actually forced to bring their "smart phone" up to snuff to play with the big boys.

linux has the same advantages over windows, and has had for many years, yet windows is still much more prevalent. I think you underestimate the power of marketing and vendor lockin.

[Open Source] vs Windows is an illustration of my "Worst Case". Look at IE before and after the rise of Mozilla/Safari. Relevant superior competition, even with small marketshare, forced the leader to end their technological stagnation.

I don't find IE7 to be that much better than IE6, I just don't expect the market to respond as much as you do, I guess... but only time will tell for sure.
