This entry is a catchall for everything going on in my life lately. I haven't posted in a while, or really talked to a lot of folks about where I'm at, so this is for anyone I've not kept in the loop.

I have moved into C7, near Freeside, and only need to visit my old place one more time to clean up and do a little drywall repair. The new place is a collaborative / collective environment, with 7 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a huge workshop area (4000sqft). I've got two of the bedrooms, but that could change eventually, as I'm discovering that I really don't need that much space. The space is still in flux, in terms of organization and habits and rules, so there's a little head butting going on there, but we all mostly get along and are getting some interesting things accomplished (room remodeling, furniture acquisition, workshop buildout) and started (aluminum foundry operation, wood shop, art stuff).

My day job has settled into a boring routine. I'm currently working Sunday through Thursday, 5PM to 2AM. For the months of November and December that will change to Tuesday through Saturday at the same times, as I'm trading shifts with someone else who needs Saturdays off during the holiday season. I'm still learning new things about how the systems specific to the company work, and occasionally being forced to re-learn things long forgotten (tonight we had to troubleshoot a server that's been running for over 10 years on the same OS). My new place is about 2 miles from work, which I've walked and biked a few times and scooter'd occasionally, but my usual commute right now is to take MARTA for all but 5 blocks of the trip in, then ride home with a coworker who shares my shift. I'll be changing that to a mostly scooter commute as soon as I fix up a nice 500W scooter that I got my hands on recently.

My relationship status is in flux, both slow and fast. I've never had well-defined or always-on relationships, but here's a rundown of the current state of affairs... K is visiting soon for a long weekend, and we are as on as ever. I'll be going to see her in January as well. L and I broke up, her choice, and that's proving to be less inconsequential than I had hoped, so I've gone from seeing her as often as possible to almost never. I'm seeing C every few weeks or months when our travels coincide, and that's fun. T is engaged and exploring new boundaries, so our occasional play is on hold until further notice. S is trying out a monogamous lifestyle, and it seems to be treating her well, so we haven't been involved lately, but that's an iron I'm happy to keep a fire ready for. That covers all the regular players in this section of the story. A few other potentials have popped up and are worth mentioning. F, an acquaintance for a few years, has expressed interest in getting to know me better, in a between-the-sheets kinda way, but only in certain circumstances that have proven difficult to replicate, so patience is warranted there. A falls into that same category, except that she tends to get herself mentally altered before any public outings, and that's not conducive to my consent requirements, and she may be more interested in my toys than in me, so that's a long shot but not out of the question. Girls-worth-letters aside, I've been trying to be more outgoing in public and semi-public situations, and that has landed me a few opportunities to play with acquaintances and even strangers, which is sorta new for me. I'm going to continue down that path and see where it goes.

GMX is coming up, the weekend of the 23rd, in Nashville. That's the end of my fall convention season this year. I should be teaching Shibari and doing who knows what else there. You should come by if you're not too far away, it's going to be a blast!

Financially, the new job is treating me very well. Right now I'm in my "worst" two months, where I'm paying rent and utilities on the old place, rent and utilities on the new place, and half the deposit on the new place each month. All that combines to effectively consume one of my checks each month. As of the end of November I'll just be paying the normal rent+utils on the new place, which will take about 1/3 of one paycheck each month. I've got a couple of outstanding debts that need to be taken care of, and that should happen later this week. That leaves me a full paycheck this month and 5/3 of a paycheck in future months to figure out what to do with. I am going to start putting money away into long and short term savings. I am thinking of putting 5% into a 401(k) (which my company will match in a few months) and 5% into my regular savings account for emergencies. Setting aside a couple of hundred bucks a month for recurring purchases (food, phone time, freeside, etc) leaves me with about $2500/mo to figure out what to do with. Stay tuned for more on that topic.

In medical news... I was involved in a car wreck on the way home from Alchemy. I was reclined in the passenger seat of a car that rear ended another car at about 40mph. An airbag to the crotch now tops my list of the most painful experiences of my life. I was the only injury, and spent the evening at Grady hospital. A few xrays and ultrasounds later they told me I was no worse off than I felt, and significantly better than I looked, and sent me home. A week later all of my ongoing soreness is gone and there's just a few bruises and some tender skin left where the abrasions and contusions were before, and a few bruises have come to the surface that weren't there before. I'm still looking for a new PCP, there are so many choices and apparently not a single one of them arranges appointments online or via email, so I'll keep looking. I'm also looking for a urologist to see about some specific issues, and have a couple of leads on what might be decent options. I'd rather find someone downtown, but I'll echo my good friend D's sentiment "For my junk, I'll travel to the right doctor". I remain unable to find someone skillful and trustworthy enough who is also willing to do my cornea tattoo, so I'll keep occasionally looking on that front. I'm also looking into whether or not my new insurance would cover it.
That's about all that's important and recent in my life. I'll try to post more regularly as interesting things happen, but can't promise.

Wuss. Two miles is like nothing. (Yes, yes, middle of the night etc. But still!)

Now, see, I more or less consider us to have been on since we started dating, so I don't know what this always on nonsense is unless you're referring to something involving the long distance thing.

*glee!*
Also, remind me at some point to figure out what my plans for Arisia are, and by extension, what yours should involve.

L and I broke up, her choice, and that's proving to be less inconsequential than I had hoped, so I've gone from seeing her as often as possible to almost never.

:(

Also, your letters are frustrating me, mostly because I apparently can't line all of them up with actual names.

Hmmm, TN's not too far away from MA, right?

YOU SHOULD BUY A PONY!

No. I am kidding, that would be a *terrible* idea. Horses are smelly and messy and take a lot of work and eat everything.

Man, everything in your life is interesting. It is a shame that you do not report more often on such.

Yay for Sparr updates! I'd love to see pictures of the new place when you have time (I've seen a few things on FB, but I want the photo-tour!)

There is a more thorough tour on flickr. I'm going to upload another pic or two tonight, of the kichen remodel in progress.
