I'm organizing the first camping event at my new(ish) place in Whitinsville MA. The nature of the event will depend on what you bring and do, with no specific theme or agenda. That said, there's a good chance you'll find folks engaged in song and dance, making and enjoying acoustic and electronic music, yoga and acro-yoga, circus and flow arts, fire performance, shallow to deep conversation, maker-y endeavors, and a variety of other pursuits.

This first event is invite-only. Please don't just show up based on the information in this post. Comment or send me a private message for an explicit invite through another platform (not Facebook!). You'll get further details in the invite and later communications.

You are also welcome to join us on our Discord at https://discord.gg/rrBe32ftA2 to talk about this and other events, art, collaborations, and goings on at the Est8.

PS: I went to LJ to see if it would be worth manually cross posting, since automated cross posting died a while ago, but it feels like a ghost town over there so I didn't bother and that's probably the last time I'll ever log in there.

I'm planning a weekend campout at my place south of Worcester MA in a few months. Nothing too formal, but I anticipate there will be music and dance and revelry, conversation and marshmallows over fires, etc. If you'd like to come. help me pick a date: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/bDqQmNyd

If you'd like to help make it happen, comment or get in touch otherwise and I'll add you to the mailing list.

My new house, Estate of Mind, is having our first big open house on April 23. This is part of National Cohousing Open House. We'll open the doors at noon and wind down at 4PM, but friends are welcome before and after as well. You're welcome to come see our home and projects. Learn about the history of the Whitin Lasell Estate, and the future we intend to build here. Take a walk through the woods or explore our gardens. Meet our members and see what we do here. If you'd like to spend some time interacting with us while you're here, there will be numerous opportunities. We expect to have a circus/spin jam (practice and play with poi, staff, juggling, stilts, etc), some music playing with space for dancing, some board games, and various other activities going on. The address is 120 Hill St in Whitinsville MA. I look forward to seeing you!

My wife is playing a small virtual concert tonight and tomorrow night, holidays and space themed. I know she's a vocalist and plays ukulele, but I have no idea what else is planned. https://www.facebook.com/events/1001726336988379

Upcoming events I am hosting at Loophole (the coliving / art / event space I recently co-founded in SOMA, SF):

Sunday January 13, 2-6PM, Deception Game Night. Tabletop games built around bluffing, lying, and backstabbing. We might play Coup, Diplomacy, Resistance, Liar's Dice, Werewolf, or other similar games.

Tuesday January 8 6:45-9PM, Rope Bondage lesson+practice. Lesson will cover the munter hitch as a friction knot in tight rope cages. Afterward we have open practice and skillshare time.

Reach out if you're interested in attending either, or if you want to get on our mailing list where we announce all sorts of other events not hosted by me, such as yoga class, bouldering practice on our climbing wall, music documentary / concert film movie nights, meditation, and more every month!

My second year at Burning Man was better and worse than my first. Most of the notable details of the experience were different, although the large scale view of camping in the desert for a week or two with 70k people partying remains the same. Overall, my view of Burning Man remains similar to before I went, and after my first year. It's a lot of fun, and worth the effort and cost if both are lower than average. I'll probably keep going as long as I'm on the west coast. From the east coast, I'd probably go back to spending the same money and effort and work vacation days on 3-5 regional burns instead.
