So, I got a letter in the mail from GA Power asking if I would be interested in signing up for their summer off-peak incentive plan. Basically I pay 10.5c/kWh right now. The offer is that from June through September, from 2PM to 7PM (peak electric usage time) my rate goes up to 18c, and all other times (funny, 1PM doesnt seem like "Nights" to me) it goes down to 4c. I work 3P-12A (soon to be 1P-10P), and my roommates are never here. I think this will be a good switch for us. To anyone else who has gotten the letter, or who is intrigued by the idea, what do you think?
If I do take this, I think I would invest in a thermostat with a scheduler, to ensure the A/C knows to stay off when no one is home during peak hours.
