Motion Denied
Apr. 8th, 2026 05:11 amAs predicted, the judge ruled against my motion for summary judgment. Once again, the court says there are material facts in dispute. Once again, they failed to mention what any of those facts are.
Either they consider some facts to be relevant that I claim aren't, or they consider some material facts to be in dispute when I believe the legal standard for dispute hasn't been met.
At this point, I think it would be a strategic mistake to further pursue this motion. There's a small chance I could achieve a different outcome in this court or the appeals court and a decent chance I would go into the trial slightly better prepared, but a large chance that I would further annoy this court and also separately that I would improve the other side's case.
The judge initially asked us to go to trial in June, but the other side says their expert witness will be on summer vacation so the trial date was pushed back to September. So I remain stuck here for at least another five months while nothing new happens in this case.
I still have hundreds of hours of legal prep to do between now and then, and court appearances in other cases. Even though I'm down to less than four court appearances per month, I still don't think getting a full time job that pays even half of the expenses here is a viable plan with this much court/legal load.
I'll be trying to volunteer at some summer events so I can attend while I'm broke, but otherwise this will be another mostly reclusive summer for me.
